Determine if you qualify for the CDAP Micro Grant

The Canadian government’s Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is designed to help small businesses improve their digital capabilities and reach a broader online audience. If you’re a small business owner in Canada, you may be eligible for funding through CDAP to help you enhance your digital presence. In this article, we will discuss the eligibility criteria for CDAP funding and determine whether your business qualifies for the grant.

Eligibility Criteria for CDAP Funding

To be eligible for CDAP funding, your business must meet the following criteria:

For-profit business:

Your business must be a for-profit business, including for-profit social enterprises and co-operatives.
Registered or incorporated: Your business must be registered or incorporated in Canada.

Consumer-facing:

Your business must sell goods and services directly to end consumers.

At least one employee or $30,000 in annual revenue:

Your business must have at least one employee other than the owner or have had at least $30,000 in annual revenue in the most recent tax year.

Digital adoption strategy for six months:

Your business must commit to maintaining a digital adoption strategy for six months.

Participate in follow-up surveys:

Your business must agree to participate in follow-up surveys, share data about the experience, and have its name published as a grant recipient.

Businesses Not Eligible for CDAP Funding

Unfortunately, some small businesses in Canada are not eligible for CDAP funding. These include:

  • Corporate chains, franchises, or registered charities
  • Representatives of multi-level marketing companies
  • Brokerage firms such as real estate agents, investment advisors, and insurance agents
  • Businesses engaged in online reselling or drop-shipping that rely on third-party suppliers
  • Wholesale or distribution businesses and manufacturers (unless they sell directly to consumers)
